Location, location, location


Here's a panorama of the nearby cliffs, with the (likely) tomb of Xerxes on the left.


Because this tomb is at an angle to the cliff wall where the others are located, it was more protected, and the reliefs are in much better shape.

Xerxes is shown praying in front of an altar fire (notice the Farvahar above him). The platform on which he's standing is supported by 28 figures, representing the 28 subject nations of the Persian Empire. (Click on the picture to enlarge.)
