The gold platter is from the Reza Abbasi museum; the bull is a capital on top of a column, also from the National Museum.
Alexander's men looted and burned Persepolis only two centuries after it was built. I know that someone would have done it eventually; there is too much greed and stupidity in human history to believe otherwise. But seeing these artifacts gave me a real sense of how magnificent it must have been. We'll be visiting there near the end of this trip.
