Sunrise

Floreana. I woke up with a cold this morning, so I skipped the 6 am hike with very little reluctance -- I just couldn't face wading in cold water that early in the morning.

After the hikers left, I had the ship's lounge to myself so I drank tea and watched the sunrise. There are only two seasons in the Galapagos, the wet season and the garua, or misty season. You can guess from these photos that this is the garua. The mist burns off as the day gets warmer, but by the end of the day it's sitting overhead like a sun hat, with a ribbon of clear blue sky circling the horizon.
