Floreana
I felt much better after breakfast, and went on the zodiac ride around Gardner, one of the islets off Floreana. The island seems to consist mostly of prickly pear cactus above steep lava cliffs that provide ideal nesting spots for sea birds.
I thought this would have to be the picture of the day: a red-billed tropicbird in flight. It's overexposed and not that sharp, but considering that I took it while bouncing around in a zodiac, it's pretty good.
Yes, that is its tail. Some of the crevices on the rocks had just that long white tail hanging out, twitching every so often so you'd know there was a bird on the other end.
