Sandstone

Sandstone is the skeleton of this continent. In the outback, it's the red bones left exposed when everything else was eroded away; here in Sydney they pried it from the ground and built a city out of it. Prim brown sandstone shoulders up against steel and glass in the central business district, and all of the old government buildings and cultural institutions like museums and libraries are built with it. This is St Mary's Cathedral, and the Queen Victoria Building.
