Way down upon the Chobe River
Far, far away...
The afternoon's activity was a river safari -- like a game drive, but in a boat. We were still in the national park, and the boat had to stop at a dock to register at the park entrance, just like on the game drives.
But you could almost believe that we were crossing some more magical portal, that we really were in some new dimension.
There were animals, of course, hundreds of them, and countless flocks of birds. And beer or wine if you wanted -- basically, all the perks we're becoming accustomed to.
But there were also those stunning African skies reflected in the river, the flat grassy plains of Namibia in the distance, the sound of the water lapping against the boat, banks of flowers floating in the stream.
I like the way the grasses and the flowers in the picture below make a spiky abstract against the softness of the river reflections.
