My first impressions of any new city are usually colored by sleep deprivation, but in the case of Lisbon, the fact that it was at least fifteen degrees hotter than I expected made my first-day stroll down to the river and back almost hallucinatory.
Moorish castles. Tiled facades on shabby streets. Retro trams, overblown monuments, and a suspicious amount of construction for an allegedly bankrupt country.
