The Hawa Mahal, or Palace of Winds, is basically a five-story high screen. It's part of the City Palace complex and existed so that the women in the harem could look out on the street without being seen. The top three stories are only one room deep, and were accessed by ramps from behind.
The honeycomb shaped screens acted as a kind of ventilation system, pulling cool air into the rooms.
