T.E. Lawrence visited Yanbu in 1916, though by the time the story gets told by a tour guide, he didn't just visit, he lived here. I'm also not sure that these ruins are his house, since that's already been renovated, according to what I've read online.
But it's in better shape than the Lawrence House I visited in Wadi Rum, and it was worth seeing just to hear the charming way our guide talked about “Lawrence of Arab.”
“You want to know about him, there is a movie you can watch. It's called his name, Lawrence of Arab. It's three hours long!”
