In Greek mythology, Zeus wanted to find the center of the earth. He sent two eagles flying from opposite ends of the world and they met in Delphi, marking it as the omphalos, or navel, of the world.
It's a beautiful location on the slopes of Mount Parnassos. We could hear goats bleating on the slopes above us, which for some reason felt very Greek.
