South Georgia
King penguins on the beach in Elsehul Bay.
We weren't supposed to have any excursions until tomorrow, but since we got here early we were able to do a short zodiac ride late this afternoon. There were hundreds of king penguins crowded on the beaches and porpoising through the water, fur and elephant seals, albatross colonies--it was almost too much. And I managed to get in and out of the zodiac without embarrassing myself, and my double socks plus toe warmers actually kept my feet comfortable for the duration.
