A European robin, as stunned by the morning sun as the rest of us were, in Plockton.

Plockton sunrise
Although Plockton is on the west coast of Scotland, somehow the harbor does a Panama and manages to face east.
As I realized this morning when I woke up to the sunrise through my window. And though I have a cold and had fallen asleep at eight feeling miserable, I went outside in bare feet and my pajamas to take pictures of it. Because, that's why.
Plockton
Plockton, our base for exploring Skye, may be technically on the mainland, but I wouldn't rule out a strong fairy influence there. In the evening, when the mist rolled in, it looked like a quintessential cold climate fishing village. In the morning, under the bright sun of yet another uncharacteristically gorgeous day, it looked almost Mediterranean.
Palm trees in the Scottish Highlands?
