A gray catbird in Central Park.
I'm very bad at recognizing bird calls -- to me they don't resemble the descriptions in the field guides in any useful way. I hear Tweet TWEET tweet whistle and the guide assures me I'm hearing Periphery sweet kaboom.
But if I hear what sounds like a very annoyed feline complaining in the shrubbery, even I know to look for a gray bird with a red bottom.
