More urban poetry



I always wished I had a better version of this picture—I was on a bus heading back to Lisbon from Belem in 2011. I loved those yellow chimneys under that sky and wished that I could see them better. But at least I have this picture.

Then we started to pass canola fields. The bright yellow fields alternating with greens were unexpectedly beautiful. The weather had also improved!

Saturday reflections




I've been taking a lot of buses again, something I got out of the habit of doing during the pandemic. But with school and tutoring on the Upper East Side, and my knee no longer up to walking as many miles as I used to, it's either buses or Uber, and buses are a lot cheaper.

I'm not sure what sort of holes or pipes these covers (on First Avenue) are protecting, but at least they are doing so colorfully.

I always like to see splashes of yellow in the city.
