Campo Pequeno

This is the bullfighting arena, a beautiful mix of brick and Moorish domes. I've been told several times, starting with the cab driver who brought me in from the airport, that in Portuguese bullfighting the bull is NOT killed, as opposed (presumably) to the traditions of those bloodthirsty Spaniards.

What they all forget to mention is that the bull does die, just not in the arena. They're killed afterwards, so it's not likely that there is a long line of cattle somewhere fighting for the honor of being stabbed in front of spectators.
