In which I'm grateful not to be Marco Polo

After tea, I wanted to stretch my legs so I strolled across the road and into the desert. Although it was late in the afternoon, the sun was blinding and it was boiling hot. I didn't go very far before being very grateful that the remainder of my own journey would take place inside an air-conditioned van.
